Barclays current-account PDFs use Money out and Money in rather than Debit and Credit. Dates are often written as 15 Jan 2026, which is unambiguous, or as day/month/year numbers. Amounts are in pounds. A figure in parentheses in the money-out column is still money out; the parentheses are a formatting habit, not a second sign on top of the column.
A text-based Barclays PDF is read in your browser. The file is not uploaded. If the columns on your copy differ from the notes below, change the mapping in the preview before you download.
The sort code and account number sit in the header. They are not transactions. A wrapped reference under a Faster Payment or salary credit belongs to the row above.
Typical columns: Date, Description, Money out, Money in, Balance. Date order: day/month/year. Currency on the statement: GBP.
In Barclays online banking or the app, open the current account, go to statements, and save the PDF rather than a screenshot.
Those headings should be detected. If the preview shows them as Ignore, set the roles yourself.
UK statements are day first. Month-name dates such as 15 Jan 2026 do not depend on that setting.
The OFX currency follows symbols found in the file, or you can treat the sheet as GBP when you import it.
