NatWest current-account statements often print both a transaction date and a value date, then Money out, Money in, and Balance. Dates are day/month/year. The value date is when interest considers the item; the transaction date is when it appears. Most people reconciling a spreadsheet want the transaction date.
A text-based NatWest PDF is read in your browser. The file is not uploaded. If the columns on your copy differ from the notes below, change the mapping in the preview before you download.
Royal Bank of Scotland personal statements are similar because of the shared system, but this page describes NatWest headings. Map Value to Ignore so it is not used as the transaction date.
Typical columns: Date, Description, Value, Money out, Money in, Balance. Date order: day/month/year. Currency on the statement: GBP.
In NatWest online banking, open statements for the current account and save the PDF.
Set the Value column to Ignore unless you specifically reconcile on value dates. Set the other date column to Date.
Money out is Debit. Money in is Credit. Use DMY.
