From an Australian transaction-account PDF to QuickBooks or Xero
The PDF from an Australian transaction account is day/month/year, and QuickBooks Online in Australia will not upload it. StatementSheet reads the selectable text in your browser, then gives you a .qbo Web Connect file for QuickBooks or a CSV for Xero.
The PDF stays in this browser
A text-based statement is parsed here and is not uploaded. The spreadsheet and the .qbo file are built here too. A scan or photo has no text layer. Pictures are sent only if you agree, and only so the table can be read. Text-based statements never take that path.

Why the PDF will not import
Australian QuickBooks Online does not take the PDF you download from the bank. The US edition's PDF upload is not part of this region's product. QuickBooks will take a Web Connect .qbo file. Xero will take a statement CSV. Both have to be produced from the table inside the PDF.
Day-first dates are where a US habit corrupts the month. The synthetic CommBank-style file the parser is checked against contains 15/03/2026 and 03/04/2026 in the same list. 15 March shows the file is day-first, so 03/04/2026 is 3 April, not 4 March. This page opens the converter with day/month/year already selected. Check that 03/04 landed in April before you download anything.
What StatementSheet writes
Download QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) when the next stop is QuickBooks. The file is written in the browser. Row ids are there so QuickBooks can skip a transaction it already imported. Posted dates are year-month-day, taken from the preview, so a wrong date order is already baked in if you export too early. The bank id defaults to 3000 and QuickBooks Desktop may show that source as Wells Fargo. The transactions are the same if you change the id. Skip the three-column QuickBooks CSV for an Australian file: that CSV is month/day/year.
The Xero CSV uses Date, Amount, Payee, Description, and Reference. Dates are YYYY/MM/DD and the amount is signed. There is no currency column, so import it into the Australian-dollar account. The .qbo currency is AUD when the PDF prints AUD or A$. The checked CommBank-style file prints AUD on the amounts and in the header. A bare dollar sign is counted as USD, not Australian dollars.

The layout the parser is checked against
The only Australian PDF in the parser checks is a synthetic CommBank-style transaction account, titled in the file as a Commonwealth Bank Smart Access sample. Columns are Date, Description, Debit, Credit, and Balance. Amounts are marked AUD. A transfer description wraps, and the next line stays on that row. 15/03/2026 and 03/04/2026 are both in the file, and 03/04 is 3 April. It is not a real Commonwealth Bank statement, and StatementSheet is not affiliated with CommBank.
No other Australian bank has a PDF in those checks. You can still open a different text-based transaction-account PDF and fix the column roles in the preview. That does not make the layout a checked one.
Steps
1. Download the transaction-account PDF
Save the statement file. A photo of the transactions page is not the same document and is not read unless you later agree to send pictures.
2. Confirm 03/04 is 3 April
The link sets day/month/year. On the checked CommBank-style file, 15/03/2026 is 15 March and 03/04/2026 is 3 April. If your preview shows 4 March, stop and switch the date order before you export.
3. Leave Debit and Credit as they are
A positive number in Debit is still money out. Credit is money in. A wrapped line with no date belongs to the description above it.
4. Export .qbo or Xero CSV
Use .qbo for QuickBooks and the Xero CSV for Xero. The Xero file should go into the AUD account. If the PDF never prints AUD or A$, the .qbo currency may not be AUD.
Balance check
When the statement prints balances, the preview checks that the opening balance plus money in, minus money out, equals the closing balance. It highlights the first row where a running balance breaks. If the preview says only some pages were converted, the check cannot see the rows on the pages that were left out.
The CommBank-style file prints a balance on each row, including the 3 April debit. Those running balances reconcile when 03/04/2026 is read as 3 April. A month-first reading would put that row in March and the check would be comparing the wrong order of transactions.
